Roe Doe Deer Willow Sculpture
The UKās most common native deer, this female roe deer, is synonymous with the British countryside. With its distinctively stubby tail, this deer is best placed amongst long grass or close to trees, with a roe fawn deer by her side.
Hand-crafted by talented artist Emma Stothard, who was able to start up her business with a loan from The Princeās Trust, was invited by His Majesty The King to exhibit her willow sculptures on the Orchard Lawns at Highgrove.
Sculpted from British willow, interwoven with wire and bronze wire and shaped around a steel armature, the contrasting willow colours in this doe deer sculpture create form and definition. Each sculpture is finished with a coating of linseed oil and turpentine solution to preserve and protect it.
